Pu-erh tea belongs to the big-leaf tea in Yunnan. The Pu-erh tea trees handed down in the early days are all tree-like trees, not shrubs like green tea, and they all grow in the virgin forests of Yunnan. The trees are hundreds of thousands of years old. Even towering trees. These tea trees are usually called wild arbor trees or ancient trees. Because of their high trunks, they have to climb on the trees when picking tea.
Arbor-type big tree tea and ancient tree tea are sought after by the majority of tea lovers because of their rich content, which is very conducive to later aging, and has a unique taste and flavor.
However, not all Pu-erh teas have to be picked from trees.
After entering modern times, in order to facilitate management and picking, and to increase production, people also cultivated a large number of shrub-shaped Pu’er tea gardens by artificial cuttings, which we call platform tea. Terrace tea is generally cultivated in pieces by cuttings. Through manual intervention, it will not grow too high, so it is easy to pick and manage.
